Originality and Plagiarism
All articles published in Smart and Green Materials must be free from plagiarism. Therefore, submitted articles will undergo a thorough plagiarism check using the Turnitin tool, or authors may be required to provide proof that their work is original. The journal strictly adheres to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines regarding plagiarism and research integrity.
Plagiarism occurs when an author utilizes someone else's work, often that of another author, without obtaining permission, giving credit, or acknowledging the original source. Plagiarism can manifest in various ways, ranging from direct copying to rephrasing the content of another's work. Authors must ensure that their works are completely original. If they have incorporated the ideas or words of others, proper citation or quotation should be employed.
The following are considered forms of plagiarism:
- Direct plagiarism (copying text without citation).
- Mosaic or paraphrased plagiarism.
- Self-plagiarism or duplicate publication.
- Salami publication (fragmented data publishing).
- AI-generated or machine-written content without disclosure.
In cases where plagiarism is detected:
- Before publication, the manuscript will be rejected immediately.
- After publication, the article may be retracted and publicly marked as retracted on the journal website.
- The authors may be blacklisted from submitting for a specified period.
This policy reflects Smart and Green Materials commitment to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity and promoting ethical practices in scientific research.
